Almanor Park Grand Opening Held on August 19th
ARPD hosted a grand opening on August 19th to celebrate our newest recreation amenity - Almanor Park. The park is located at 101 Meadowbrook Loop in Chester, next to the TCCP ball field and adjacent to the Almanor Recreation Center.
The park features two outdoor ping pong tables, a foosball game, a chess table and two corn hole games. Multiple picnic tables, split rail fencing, entry monuments and landscaping are also included. A community garden with 10 raised planters and two murals are additional park amenities.
The grand opening included remarks by ARPD Board Members Susan Espana and Terra Ayers and Plumas County Supervisor Tom McGowan. Refreshments were provided by Little Pink Box Bakery and the Chester Girl Scouts. Raffle prizes were handed out to a dozen lucky winners thanks to prize donations from Gather Home, Forever Home, Ayoob's Intermountain Hardware and the Almanor Fishing Association.
Almanor Park was made possible by the procurement of Prop 68 State Parks grant funds, along with match funds from the Truman Collins Family Foundation and other private donors. In addition, many community members and businesses have donated their time, equipment and materials in making this park possible. See the photos below of the celebration and acknowledgements.
